Liebesleid\n\n\n\nDuration\nThis concert will last approximately 60 minutes\, with no interval.\n\n\n\n\nMaya Irgalina opens her recital with a beautiful piano transcription of the second movement of Bach’s Sonata in E flat Major BWV 1031 for recorder\, harpsichord and viola da gamba. This is followed by the famous Busoni transcription of Johann Sebastian’s Chaconne from Partita No. 2 BWV 1004 for solo violin; musically bold and expansive and full of sheer virtuosity. Moving into the key of F sharp Major\, a rare occurrence in Chopin’s compositions\, Maya demonstrates the intoxicating beauty and pianistic lyricism of one of Fryderyk’s most mature works offering us an almost impressionistic soundscape. From this\, a semitone higher\, Andante Spianato emerges with a stunning bel canto melody before erupting with youthful energy and panache in the Grand Polonaise brillante in E flat Major. Tonight’s performance will come to a close with two more transcriptions by Volodos and Rachmaninoff\, with the latter paraphrasing yet another famous virtuoso\, Fritz Kreisler.\n\n\n\nBOOK TICKETS\n\n\n[AIGetTwitterFeeds ai_username='PianoWeekFest' ai_numberoftweets='3' ai_tweet_title='Your Title']
