The recital opens with Ferrucio Busoni’s transcription of the famous choral prelude of Johann Sebastian Bach\, followed by a selection of Debussy's Preludes; workings of a master of colour and expression\, light and darkness\, harmony and melody\, texture and rhythm. A picture of a successful virtuoso and composer who strove after formal clarity emerges in the final piece - Liszt's B minor Ballade written between 1845-1853 during a time of personal turmoil. It is not known whether Beethoven’s two-movement Sonata for piano duet was performed in public in Beethoven’s time and is thought to have been a teaching piece. The extraordinary sonorities\, orchestral colours and true poise of Ravel’s ‘La Mère l’Oye’ and Debussy’s charming ‘Petite Suite' bring the evening to a close. Both works were successfully orchestrated\, the first one by Ravel himself and the latter by Debussy’s colleague Henri Busser.\n\nFREE ENTRY for the festival’s participants.\n\n\n\n\n[AIGetTwitterFeeds ai_username='PianoWeekFest' ai_numberoftweets='3' ai_tweet_title='Your Title']
