International Festival & Summer School PIANO WEEK will inaugurate its first US residency at Idyllwild Arts, the country’s premier and widely acclaimed arts high school, between 24th and 31st May 2026. Headed by British concert pianist Samantha Ward (founder and artistic director) and Polish concert pianist Maciej Raginia (creative director), the summer school is situated in the breathtakingly beautiful village of Idyllwild in the San Jacinto mountains of Southern California. Based at the heart of this vast idyllic and peaceful campus, the two residential programmes are open to pianists of any age and ability, offering them an opportunity to study with distinguished artists, pedagogues and educators alongside a multitude of performance opportunities. The festival’s high-calibre recitals given by faculty members as well as participant concerts, will be held at The William M. Lowman Concert Hall, which boasts world-class acoustics. Other residencies in the summer of 2026 include London (Dulwich College), Rugby (Rugby School, UK) in July and August.

Those attending PIANO WEEK at Idyllwild will receive up to 24 hours of tuition, classes and performances over the six-day period. Accommodation on campus is in close vicinity to all music venues and consists of single and twin bedrooms (all featuring an en-suite bathroom, mini fridge, microwave and fresh linen packs).
Please note that children under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by their parent/guardian for the entire duration of their stay and can only be admitted to our ‘Kids and Teens’ programme.
All participants will benefit from:
- Master classes
- One-to-one & duet lessons
- Jazz improvisation
- Harmony & memorisation, pedalling and fingering classes (adults)
- Composition classes (with a chance to perform their own composition)
- Seminars on how to practise
- Sight reading classes
- Listening and theory classes (children)
- Talks on stage presentation & the history of the piano (children)
- Informal concerts and discussion forums
- Multiple performance opportunities
- Free entry to all faculty recitals

GETTING THERE
There is no public transportation to or within Idyllwild. Transportation is available via campus shuttles (at an additional cost) from Ontario, Palm Springs and Los Angeles (LAX) airports – all arrangements must be made in advance. If your flight lands after 9pm (8pm LAX), please plan to stay overnight in a hotel at the airport.
