International Festival & Summer School PIANO WEEK returns to Foligno for the fourth time in the summer of 2020. Headed by British concert pianist Samantha Ward (founder and artistic director) and Polish concert pianist Maciej Raginia (creative director), the festival is full of high calibre performances from the in-house team of concert pianists and is based at Scuola Comunale di Musica Alessandro Biagini, a beautiful building right in the heart of the old town. This picturesque location offers participants of any age and ability an opportunity to study with a distinguished faculty of concert pianists in the inspiring surroundings of the first official Roman city, which dates back to 295 BC. Other international residencies in 2020 include Weston Rhyn (UK), Rugby (UK), Tokyo (Japan) and Online Edition (Worldwide).
Founded around the 8th century BC by the Umbrians, Foligno offers our participants a chance to immerse themselves in its ancient history alongside intensive coaching, master classes and performances. The main meeting point, the 12th century Piazza della Repubblica, houses the Cathedral San Feliciano and Palazzo Trinci, former home of the wealthy and art loving family, who made Foligno an important city in the 14th and 15th centuries. Today it is a bustling place filled with restaurants, bars and historical sites and hosting several of the most important festivals in the whole of Italy.
